Car photography

The bulk of what I do. We meet at a location that suits the car, usually around sunrise or sunset, and work through the car from every angle.

What gets shot depends on why you're shooting. An auction car needs the engine bay, the undercarriage and every flaw documented — a car you just love needs none of that. Tell me which it is and I'll cover it accordingly.

How it works
  • Coverage built around why you're shooting
  • On location in the Austin area
  • Paint color corrected in Lightroom
  • A full set, not a handful of hero shots
  • Delivered in 3–5 business days
  • Sized for a listing, a print or the web
Two packages

Base suits a rental or for-sale listing; Premium is the full auction-grade set. Anything outside the two, ask me for custom pricing.

Common questions
What should I expect on the shoot?

We’ll generally meet around sunrise or sunset for the best lighting. A basic photos-only shoot takes around two hours; if we’re doing video, add another 90 minutes at a minimum.

You’re welcome to stay with me during the shoot, but it’s not required. Make sure the car is very well detailed — any dirt or smudges are likely to show up in the photos.

What photography gear are you using?

I’ve been through a lot of gear over the years, but I’ve settled on Sony cameras and G Master lenses. They’re consistent and produce beautiful images.

  • Sony Alpha A7 III
  • Sony G Master 16-35 f/2.8 II
  • Sony G Master 24-70 f/2.8 II
  • Sony G Master 70-200 f/2.8 II
  • Sony G Master 85mm f/1.4 II
  • Sony G Master 135mm f/1.8

Car videography

Photos show the car. Video shows what it's like to be near it — the cold start, the idle, the way it moves down a road.

It's an add-on to a photo shoot, and it's the thing that keeps people watching a listing instead of scrolling past it.

What you get
  • Walkaround video, 2–3 minutes
  • Cold start with real audio
  • Rolling and driving footage
  • Stabilized cameras, no gimmicks
Common questions
Do you shoot video as well?

Absolutely. For most online listings I’d recommend a walkaround video, a cold start and a driving video. If you’ve got something else in mind, let’s talk.

What videography gear are you using?

I’m a DJI fan right now — they’ve got great cameras and stabilization. Pocket 3 and Action 3, with Tentacle Track E recorders and Countryman B3 microphones.

Auction consulting

If the car is going up for sale, most of the outcome is decided before it's photographed: where it runs, how the listing is written, and how you handle the comments.

I have shot for Bring a Trailer, Cars & Bids, eBay Motors and Hagerty Marketplace and can tell you what each one rewards. Not every car needs this — plenty of shoots are just a shoot.

What we cover
  • Which platform to run on
  • How the listing is written
  • What to answer in the comments
  • What to fix — and what to leave alone
  • What each platform rewards
  • Whether it's worth selling at auction at all
Common questions
How much does a shoot cost?

The short answer: it depends. That said, I’ll do my best to work within your set budget — I can build a photoshoot package to meet most needs.

If you’d like more specific details, check out my car photography pricing.

Will you come to my location?

Absolutely. I’ve traveled all over Texas for shoots. I’m based in Austin, and within a reasonable distance I’ll come to you at no charge. Outside the Austin area I’ll ask for travel expenses.

Tell me about the car

I'd love to hear about your car and what you need — whether it's a Bring a Trailer listing, a private sale, a dealer lot or just a proper set of your build. No shoot is too small. A year, make, model and a rough timeline is enough to quote, and I answer email fast.
