Privacy Policy
Erik Olsen Photography is me, Erik Olsen, and this is what I do with your information. The short version: I only collect what I need to reply to you and deliver your photos. I don't sell it, and I don't hand what you send me to advertisers.
What I collect
- When you contact me: your name, email, phone number (optional) and message, whether you asked to be texted about it, the page you sent it from, and how you found the site (for example the ad or search campaign in the link you followed).
- When you call or text my business line: your phone number, your texts and any photos you send, and any voicemail you leave (the recording and a written transcript).
- When you comment on a shoot: the name you choose, your email (never published) and your comment.
- When you're a client: your email address, to send you a sign-in link and your galleries.
- Everyone: the usual technical details any website receives — your IP address, browser and the pages you visit.
How I use it
To reply to you, quote and schedule a shoot, deliver your photos, and keep spam off the site. I also look at which ads and pages bring people to the site so I know where to spend my advertising. I don't send newsletters.
Who else sees it
A few companies handle parts of the site for me, and only for that job:
- Google reCAPTCHA checks that forms are sent by a person. It runs on every page with a form and sends Google information about your visit (Google's privacy policy).
- Postmark delivers the emails the contact form sends.
- Twilio runs my business phone line: it connects calls, records and transcribes voicemails, and carries texts.
- Netlify hosts the site, and Bunny.net stores and serves the photos and the database behind the contact form, comments and client galleries.

I'll share information if the law requires it. Otherwise it stays with me.
Text messages
Erik Olsen Photography only texts you if you ask: by ticking "Text me about my inquiry" on the contact form, or by texting my business line, (737) 271-8685. The texts are about what you asked: a quote, scheduling your shoot and delivering your photos. I don't send marketing texts. How often I text depends on the conversation, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop them, or HELP for help. The full terms are in the SMS terms.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Client galleries
Your galleries are private: they're only visible after you sign in with a link emailed to you, or through a share link you create. Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 days. Photos you download are yours to keep; the originals stay in private storage until the gallery is deleted.
Analytics and ads
The site loads Google's tag for Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising's tag. They use cookies to count visits, measure which ads lead to someone getting in touch, and may be used to show my ads to you on other sites. They don't receive what you type into the forms.
The site also keeps its own simple visit log: the pages you view, the page or link that brought you here (including ad campaign tags), your type of device and browser, and your approximate location (city). It uses a random ID stored in your browser rather than a cookie, and it doesn't record your IP address. If you send a message through the contact form, that log is attached to it, so I can see how you found the site. It's never shared or sold. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, nothing is logged.
You can turn off personalized ads in your Google ad settings and Microsoft ad settings, or block these cookies in your browser — the site works the same without them.
How long I keep it
Messages and client records stay as long as they're useful for the work — usually a few years, for repeat clients and taxes. Comments stay up until they're removed. Gallery photos stay until the gallery is deleted. The visit log is deleted after about 13 months, except the part attached to a message.
